Biography
Tracy L. McGaugh is a leader in the fields of legal writing and legal education, both nationally and internationally.  She is best known for her research and presentations on cross-generational competence in legal education and the legal profession.  A longtime member of the Legal Writing Institute, Dean McGaugh is serving her second four-year term on its Board of Directors.  Among her contributions to the field of legal writing are her Interactive Citation Workbook (with co-author, Professor Christine Hurt) and accompanying online Workstation, which have revolutionized the teaching of legal citation and been adopted by approximately 80 law schools.  Since 2005, Dean McGaugh has been actively involved in post-Katrina relief efforts and teaches one of the few law school courses on Recovery from Disaster.  In addition to her work in American legal education, she has helped Bahcesehir University in Istanbul, Turkey, start the first-ever legal writing program in Turkey.  She planned her second international legal education conference in Turkey (both Istanbul and Ankara) for Summer 2010.

She began her teaching career in 1997 at Texas Tech University School of Law, where she taught from 1997-2001.  In 2001, she joined the faculty at South Texas College of Law.  Prior to teaching, Dean McGaugh practiced criminal law in Texas.
