Biography
Leonard Wexler is a Judge of the United States District Court, Eastern District of New York, a position to which he was appointed by President Ronald Reagan in 1983. Before his appointment to the bench, he had a distinguished thirty year career as a trial lawyer, during which he helped establish or shape many of Long Island's legal institutions. He was a Director of the Suffolk County Bar Association from 1956-60, and founded the Suffolk County Criminal Bar Association in 1965. He helped develop New York State's Assigned Counsel Plan, and served for seventeen years as the Plan Administrator for Suffolk County. He received a B.A. from Indiana University and his law degree from New York University.
