This course provides an overview of the complex legal landscape shaping the delivery of health care in the United States, including federal and state regulation of the health care industry. The curriculum addresses managed care and integrated delivery sys-tems from, respectively, the physician’s, patient’s, and insurer’s point of view; selected ERISA provisions; antitrust, fraud, and self-referral statutes; negotiation and drafting of provider contracts; reimbursement methodologies and their impact on the practice of medicine; and the Health Care Reform Act of 1996. (No prerequisite.)
