The library occupies both floors of the east wing of the Law Center. In addition to the Main Reading Room, there are conference rooms, quiet study rooms, computer labs, special collections rooms, a media center, a rare book room, and two lounges. The circulation desk, reserve collection, and reference desk are located in the Main Reading Room.

COMPUTERS/PRINTERS
There are 35 general use computers available in the library. These computers are located in the Main Reading Room, the Media Center, the CALR Training Lab (Room 104), Room 110, and Room 223A. One of the computers in the Main Reading Room is equipped with an extra-large monitor and a trackball; all of the general use machines are equipped with sound cards and headphones. In addition to the general use computers, there are several computers dedicated to specific purposes. Any dedicated computer will be designated with its purpose.

The group printer for the computers in Rooms 104 and 110 is located in the Document Delivery Room (Room 110). LexisNexis and Westlaw stand-alone printers are also located in that room. Group printers for the Media Center, the Main Reading Room, and Room 223A are located in those rooms. Library users are responsible for picking up print jobs.

COPICARDS/CHANGE MACHINES
Change machines are located in Room 108A.

A copicard dispenser is located in the Library Lounge. This machine may be used to purchase copicards or to add value to previously purchased copicards. Read and carefully follow all instructions on the dispenser. Copicards can be purchased in the following denominations for the costs shown:

  10 copies $1.00 bill
  70 copies $5.00 bill
  150 copies $10.00 bill
  350 copies $20.00 bill

Occasionally a copicard will malfunction. If a card reads "flagged" or "misread" when inserted into a copicard reader, request assistance from a supervisor at the Circulation Desk in the Main Reading Room. If the card cannot be repaired, attach a dated note with your name, address, phone number, status (student, faculty, visitor, etc.) to the card and leave it with a staff member at the Circulation Desk. The repaired card or a replacement will be provided as soon as possible; this may take several days.

Do not attempt to use scratched, bent, or mutilated copicards. Do not attempt to use copy cards purchased elsewhere. The library's copy machines will only accept Touro copicards purchased at the Law Center Library.

COPIERS
The Library has several self-service photocopiers located in the Library Lounge, Room 227, and between Rooms 111 and 113. All of the machines accept copicards, and one accepts dollar bills and coins as well. The machines can reduce or enlarge, and most have a special two-page copying feature that permits full page copying of two pages without having to reposition the book. When using any photocopier, care should be taken to preserve the physical integrity of the item being copied. Special platens on each machine permit copying without placing undue strain on the spines of the books.

TALKING/QUIET ROOMS
Many library rooms are designated as talking rooms or quiet rooms. Quiet rooms (Rooms 103, 108, 111, 113, 224, 226, 231, 234, 234A, and the Bridge) should be kept as quiet as possible; talking is prohibited in these rooms. Talking rooms (Rooms 104, 110, 223, 227, and the Media Center) are available for groups wishing to hold discussions on a first come/first served basis. Individuals wishing to use these rooms for quiet study may do so provided that they yield to groups intending to use the rooms for discussions. Three conference rooms are available to Law Center students only. Other rooms not designated as talking or quiet rooms, including the library hallways, should be kept as quiet as possible.

TELEPHONES
A public telephone is located on the 1st floor outside Room 113. Public phones are also located elsewhere in the Law Center. Hot line phones to LexisNexis and Westlaw are located in Room 104.

RESTROOMS
Women's restrooms are located in the Media Center and on the 2nd floor. The men's restroom is located on the 1st floor.

WATER FOUNTAINS
There is a water fountain on each floor of the library; a water cooler is located in the Media Center.
