Margarett Williams Named Assistant Dean for Career Services

July 1, 2010

Central Islip, NY – Touro Law Center Dean Lawrence Raful is proud to announce Margarett Williams has been named the new Assistant Dean for Career Services at Touro Law Center starting July 1, 2010.

"Margarett Williams is a graduate of Touro Law Center and has worked as the Director of Employer Relations for several years. She has shown a strong dedication to our student body and the success of this institution, and we are looking forward to her leadership in the role as Assistant Dean in the Office of Career Services," said Dean Lawrence Raful.

Margarett Williams received her BA from Adelphi University, where she graduated summa cum laude, and her JD from Touro Law Center. She practiced employment law upon graduation from law school, but quickly pursued her interest in family law. She practiced matrimonial and family law at Winkler, Kurtz, Winkler & Kuhn, an AV rated law firm. She then returned to Touro Law Center in 2007 as the Director of Employer Relations where she worked to create awareness of the law school’s innovative programs designed to integrate academic and experiential learning by combining content-synthesizing courses with placement in the Federal and State court systems.

In 2009, she was selected to join the New York City Bar Association’s Committee on Advancement and Management. She is a member of the Executive Committee of the Alexander Hamilton Inn of Court.

She is also a member of the Theodore Roosevelt Inn of Court, the New York City Bar Association, the Society of American Law Teachers, the National Association of Legal Professionals, the New York State Bar Association, the New York State Women’s Bar Association, the Nassau County Bar Association, the Suffolk County Women’s Bar Association and the Suffolk County Bar Association.

Ms. Williams is admitted to practice law in the State of New York, the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York and the District of Columbia Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.

Margarett Williams replaces current Dean Brett Gilbert, who will be focusing his career on the needs of Touro Law alumni in a new role as the Director of Alumni Career Services.
