ADDENDUM TO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT AND INTRODUCTION

In September of 1999 I had the privilege of joining the staff of Project P.A.T.C.H. as Coordinator for the program. After 30 years of service, my predecessor, Mr. Thomas J. O’Donnell retired. Mr. O’Donnell left our district after having developed and led an outstanding K-12 Law and Citizenship Education program. The update of this website was initiated by Mr. O’Donnell, several members of the P.A.T.C.H. staff, and several students at Northport High School. This website reflects their work and an ongoing effort completed in partnership between Project P.A.T.C.H., the Law, Youth, and Citizenship Program of the New York State Bar Association and the New York State Education Department (L.Y.C.), and the Touro College- Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center. Please see the Introduction and Acknowledgement sections of this website which were prepared before Mr. O’Donnell’s retirement to review the names of the many individuals who worked with him on this project. I would also like to extend my appreciation and gratitude to Mr. O’Donnell and the staff and student volunteers for the excellent work they did on this project. My role in coordinating the completion of this website was seamless because of the outstanding work done before I became involved.

I would like to acknowledge the following individuals who have provided constant assistance and support as we completed this website update. Thank you to:

Dr. Gregory S. Wilsey, Director of Law, Youth & Citizenship Program.

The administration and staff of the Touro College – Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center including Dean Howard Glickstein, Vice-Dean Gary Shaw, Professor Daniel Jordan, and Webmaster Robert Topscher.

Dr. Michael Romano, District Social Studies Chair, Northport – East Northport U.F.S.D.

Mrs. Therese Hoschel, Project P.A.T.C.H. Secretary.

It has been an enjoyable experience to complete this project with such enthusiastic support. This project could not have been completed without the needed funding which was graciously provided by L.Y.C. The constant support and assistance provided by Dr. Wilsey, Butch Zullo, and Kathleen Kalinowski from L.Y.C. is always greatly appreciated. We could not undertake a project of this nature without the assistance and expertise offered by the staff at the Law, Youth and Citizenship Program.

As a graduate of the Touro Law Center, I especially enjoyed working with the administration and staff at the Law Center. The incredible support Touro has offered has been of great assistance to our program. In addition to providing the use of their server for this website, Robert Topscher from Touro’s M.I.S. Department, spent numerous hours editing and creating the links needed to include the "full text" for each of the new cases.

This website supports the curriculum for the American History Through Constitutional Law Course offered by Project P.A.T.C.H. at Northport High School. L.Y.C. publishes a Study Guide and a new Activities Book which directly support the use of the American History Through Constitutional Law model. Project P.A.T.C.H., in partnership with L.Y.C., regularly offers in-service training during our annual Summer Institute and at several regional conferences to support the replication of our instructional models. If you would like to learn more about our program please feel free to call, write, or e-mail me for more information. You can also view our course outlines by visiting the P.A.T.C.H. Program Homepage.

I wish you all the best in your use of this website and in all of your Law Related Education endeavors.

Sincerely,

David A. Scott, Esq.
Project P.A.T.C.H. Coordinator
