ON-LINE REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS
PLEASE NOTE NEW REGISTRATION PRIORITY / WAITLIST RULES
Spring 2013 SEMESTER
Before you begin the registration process you must have your Touro ID number (found on your Touro Law Center picture ID card) [and the month and day of your date of birth only if you have not previously accessed the tcweb system].
If you are
changing divisions,
need to repeat a course(s) or are a
transfer student with required courses out of sequence for the Spring 2013 semester, you must meet with Assistant Dean Charlotte Taylor to plan your schedule of required courses.
You must then complete and submit a drop/add form to the Registrar’s Office to register for these classes. You may include your choice of elective courses on the drop/add form or you may register for the elective courses on-line according to the instructions below. Please note that the on-line system will not recognize a pre/co-requisite if the course was taken at another law school, even if you received transfer credit for the pre/co-requisite course.
Scholarly Organizations and Teaching Assistants: Editors and/or supervising professors will provide a list of eligible students and those students will be registered accordingly.
All clinical programs: Enrollment in a Clinic, Externship or Rotation is by application only – filed with the Clinic Office (room CL109). If you are offered a seat in a Clinic, Externship or Rotation, you must notify the Clinic Office of your acceptance and complete and submit a drop/add form to the Registrar’s Office to add the course to your schedule. If you decide to decline or to drop a clinic after you have registered, you must notify the Clinic Office so the seat may be offered to a student on a wait list.
All Foreign LL.M. Students – Please submit completed
registration forms to Professor Derby for approval
prior to the start of the registration period.
All General LL.M. Students – Please submit completed
registration forms to Assistant Dean Charlotte Taylor for approval
prior to the start of the registration period.
Rules for Registration
You are pre-registered for all required courses (except for the floating required courses Business Organizations I, Evidence, Professional Responsibility and Trusts & Estates). May 2013 graduating students are also pre-registered for American Legal Studies. The Spring 2013 course listing will tell you the sections of required courses to which you are assigned or you may check your schedule of required courses on-line. Consult the Spring 2013 course listing for the days and times of these courses. It may be helpful for you to highlight your required courses on the schedule grid so you may select elective courses that do not conflict. Pay attention to courses that may meet in two or more consecutive time slots.
Day students must register for day courses only. Evening students must register for evening courses only. Registration records will be reviewed daily and courses improperly registered for will be dropped without notice. (Crossover registration will take place at the conclusion of the regular registration period.)
You are not permitted to register for more than the maximum number of credits allowed for your division (Full-time – 16 credits, Part-time – 11 credits; one semester of 12 credits permitted) including required courses. Registration records will be reviewed daily and students who have registered for more than the maximum number of credits risk having an elective course(s) dropped to bring their credit total into compliance with registration rules.
Independent Research: You may register for Independent Research on-line. In addition, you must complete an Independent Research Proposal Form and submit it to the Registrar’s office by the end of the second week of classes in the Spring 2013 semester.
REGISTRATION FOR ELECTIVE COURSES IS NOW FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED.
1. Courses with limited enrollments will be indicated as such in the registration system.
2. The on-line system will be open to you only on your scheduled day to register (see schedule below).
3. When a course reaches its maximum enrollment, students attempting to register for the course will receive a message that the course is full.
4. If you wish to be on the wait list for a closed course, you must e-mail the Registrar’s office registrar@tourolaw.edu with the following information:
a. Your name
b. Your Touro ID number
c. Your expected date of graduation (month & year)
d. The name of the class for which you wish to be added to the waitlist (include course number and section)
Please put “Waitlist Request” as the subject of your email.
5. You will be added to the wait list and the date and time of your e-mail will be recorded.
6. If a seat opens in a closed course, students on the wait list will be notified according to the following order:
a. Students closest to graduation will have priority
b. The date and time of the e-mail request will determine the order in which students are notified.
Lists of closed courses will be posted on the Touro Law Center website and in the Registrar’s Office during the Registration period and will be updated as necessary. If a seat becomes available in a closed course, and you are the next eligible student on the wait list, you will be notified by Touro e-mail and you will have three (3) days to respond. If we receive no response, the seat will be offered to the next eligible student. Please check your e-mail messages daily during the registration period.
Students are not permitted to attend a closed course until they are notified that a seat is available and the course has been added to their schedule.
