| J.D./M.B.A. degrees prepare students for challenging careers in law offices, corporations, government agencies, not-for-profit organizations, and consulting firms. Offered by the College of Management's School of Business at Long Island University, the Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) supplements the J.D. with a strong theoretical grounding in the principles of business administration.
The total credits for completion of the M.B.A. varies according to the amount, if any, of advanced standing granted for undergraduate work, but the maximum number of credits required is 48. Since the J.D. ordinarily requires 88 credits, someone receiving the degrees separately would complete a total of 136 (88 J.D. credits and 48 M.B.A. credits). For a dual degrees candidate, the reciprocal transfer (9 credits in each direction) reduces the combined credit total to
no more than 118.
