Consumer Information

  1. The offering of this program has been approved by the American Bar Association. However, the caveats regarding transfer of credit and use of credits to accelerate graduation still apply.
  2. Enrollment will be limited to 35 students.
  3. The program will be hosted by Jimei University, but it will not be a part of any of Jimei's academic programs. Jimei will provide rooms, meals, classrooms, and some support services in Xiamen.
  4. Classes will be in the mornings each weekday.
  5. Some courses may involve interim assignments.
  6. For further biographical information about instructors, please contact Ms. Kate Anderson, summer programs coordinator.
  7. Please note that students are responsible for expenses of travel to and from Xiamen, which we estimate at less than $1,200, depending on personal choices of routes, carriers and advanced booking.
  8. Double-occupancy hotel rooms in Hong Kong are covered by the program for first session students, as is ferry fare for those who choose to head to Xiamen by water a day before the others take a plane.
  9. Remember, some of our tours may have us away from dorms at mealtime, and some of you may get tired of dorm food and choose to eat at restaurants. Also, there may be tempting souvenirs, etc., so you need to factor such expenses into your budgeting.
  10. Internet connections will be available, for a moderate cost.
  11. Quality telephone service to the U.S. is expected throughout the program, but calls will be at student expense.
  12. In most respects, the residence resembles a Hyatt Regency hotel.
  13. Persons with disabilities are invited to apply and discuss whether we can fully accommodate their needs. We will endeavor to meet the needs of all applicants.
  14. The program is subject to cancellation in the event of inadequate enrollment, so applicants should not purchase non-refundable tickets until the adequacy of enrollment is determined, which will be not later than late April. In the event of a cancellation, we will assist students in finding alternative summer programs that suit their needs.
  15. There will be access to some recreational facilities The dormitory is in an area well-suited to jogging and a beach is less than an hour away.
