Touro Law Welcomes New Members to Board of Governors
Central Islip, NY – Touro Law is pleased to announce three new members of its Board of Governors: the Honorable Kathleen Rice, Thomas Rosicki and Frederick Johs. The Board of Governors, chaired by Howard M. Stein, a partner at Certilman Balin Adler & Hyman, LLP, includes approximately 40 members and has had a significant role in the development of the law center.
The Hon. Kathleen Rice ’91 is the District Attorney of Nassau County, the first woman elected District Attorney in Long Island’s history. Ms. Rice’s career has been spent fighting for victims and victims’ families and advocating for a legal system facing ever-changing challenges and opportunities. Since taking office, District Attorney Rice has wasted no time in creating bureaus dedicated to children and the elderly, economic crime, and government and consumer frauds. She has received credit for overhauling the office's handling of DWI cases and has successfully pushed for the implementation of a DWI court to deal with one of Nassau County's most significant problems.
Thomas Rosicki ’97 is a partner at Rosicki, Rosicki and Associates, PC, the leading mortgage banking law firm in New York. RR&A is also the largest single law firm in New York State in the combined areas of Foreclosure, Bankruptcy, Evictions, Closings and Outsourcing. Mr. Rosicki is president of the AHRC Nassau Chapter’s Board of Directors.
Frederick Johs is one of the founding partners of Lewis, Johs Avallone Aviles, LLP. He serves as senior trial partner in all areas of litigation, including medical malpractice, product defect, sexual torts, nursing home, construction, municipal and commercial litigation. He serves on the Grievance Committee for the Tenth Judicial District, the Commission on the Jury of New York State (appointed by Chief Judge Judith S. Kaye) and the Krausman Committee of the Appellate Division, Second Dept. (appointed by Presiding Justice A. Gail Prudenti). He was recently honored as one of the ten best trial lawyers on Long Island and was named to "Best Lawyers" in the United States.
