Touro Law Center Hosts “Human Rights
Week,” September 19-22
Huntington, NY –
Public-interest law students and Touro Law Center are hosting a
first-time, week-long event. “Human Rights Week” will offer an
art exhibition and
topical discussions.
From Monday through Thursday, September 19-22, all day in the
Auditorium, Touro will host the “Truth-Compassion-Tolerance”
art exhibit of beautiful paintings from victims of religious and
other oppression in Communist China. An opening reception with
Chinese Falun Dafa practitioners will take place from 5 to 8
p.m. on Monday, September 19. Their work is transcendental
and inspiring.
Discussions begin on Tuesday, September 20, at 5 p.m.
with “Treatment of Undocumented Workers on Long Island,”
with representatives from both sides of the issue.
On Wednesday, September 21, at 5 p.m. “Tibetan Human
Rights” is the topic. Culminating the series on Thursday,
September 22, at 5 p.m. is the talk “Terrorism and Human
Rights.”
All events are free and open to the public, sponsored by the
Public Interest Law Organization of Touro (PILOT). Each year,
PILOT helps raise funds for fellowships for Touro students who
provide local underserved populations with free legal help.
