Practitioner
Huntington, NY –
Touro Law Center
inaugurates its Distinguished Practitioner-in-Residence program
with Adrian Cronauer, whose experiences as an Armed Forces Radio
Disc Jockey inspired the Robin Williams character in the 1987
film classic “Good Morning Vietnam.” Cronauer, now Special
Assistant to the Director of the Pentagon’s POW/MIA Office, had
a first career in broadcasting, attended law school in his late
40s, and went on to become a distinguished communications lawyer
and a forceful advocate for veterans’ issues.
Cronauer will speak
on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 6:30 p.m. in the Faculty Conference
Room.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information,
call 631-421-2244 ext. 355. The new program brings to the
school practicing lawyers who have followed unusual career
paths, or who have used their law degrees in novel or
distinctive ways. Cronauer will spend two days at Touro,
Wednesday-Thursday, November 2-3, participating in classes and
meeting with students, student groups and community
organizations.
Adrian Cronauer
received a Doctor of Law degree from the University of
Pennsylvania, and a masters in Media Studies from the New School
for Social Research in New York City. He clerked at the Federal
Communications Commission for Commissioner Patricia Diaz Dennis,
and was honored with the FCC’s Special Service Award. Previously
a senior partner with the Washington, DC, firm of Burch &
Cronauer, he is now Special Assistant to the Director of the
Pentagon’s POW/MIA Office. He has also served on the national
board of the Armed Forces Broadcasters Association and the board
of the National Vietnam & Gulf War Veterans Coalition.
