Touro to Host First Annual Elder
Law LifeCare Conference
Huntington, N.Y. – Touro Law Center will host the First Annual
Elder Law LifeCare Conference starting at 8 a.m. on Wednesday,
May 24. The event is sponsored by the ElderCare Resource Center
and Touro Law Center's Elder Law Clinic.
This unique conference brings together geriatric lawyers and
accountants, and senior
citizens and their caregivers. The focus will be on the goals
and benefits of Lifecare
Estate Planning. Tickets to the events are $35/$10 seniors.
Breakfast and lunch are
included. Call 631-421-2244 ext. 355 for
reservations and further details.
LifeCare Estate Planning has become a popular approach to
address the various
needs of a longer life. Both professionals and seniors and their
family members are
invited to attend the panel presentation and participate in the
Q&A Workshops.
Those who serve the senior population will learn how to
improve quality, cost and coordination of the services needed by
our aging population, and explore the recent federal changes to
the Medicaid program and New York State proposals that
drastically limit financial planning for long term care.
Seniors and their families should attend to find out how to:
improve the quality of
care that they may need; preserve and keep control over assets;
reduce current and
future taxes, expenses and health care costs; know that a spouse
will be provided for; allow a senior to stay at home as long as
possible; and ensure that assets pass to
chosen beneficiaries.
Since 1993 the students and faculty of Touro Law Center’s Elder
Law Clinic have provided pro-bono legal assistance to low-income
seniors on Long Island. The Clinic provides vitally-needed
advice and representation, while training the next generation of
lawyers on Long Island in the intricacies of this specialized
area of law. As part of Touro’s mission to promote public
service, the Clinic instills in its students an appreciation for
the role of compassionate and competent lawyers in protecting
rights and enhancing the quality of life of the aging
population. Touro Law Center is educating lawyers for a
population whose needs can only expand and whose interests
demand vigilant protection.
