Touro Law Center Presents 10th Annual Goods and Services Auction

Proceeds Benefit Student Fellowships to Help Area’s Vulnerable Clients

Central Islip, NY – Touro Law Center hosts the 10th Annual Goods and Services Auction on Wednesday, March 21, starting at 6 p.m. at the new campus located on 225 Eastview Drive in  Central Islip.

Proceeds benefit summer Public Interest Law Fellowships for Touro Law students who are placed throughout the New York Metropolitan area, helping some of the region’s most vulnerable clients. Last year’s event raised enough funds for 14 fellowships.

In that spirit, the auction will also take time-out to celebrate attorneys who contributed significant time to pro-bono work this past year with the annual Long Island Public Service Attorney Awards. That portion of the event is chaired by Lois Carter Schlissel, Managing Partner of Meyer, Suozzi, English & Klein, P.C. Fourteen Long Island attorneys were honored last year for their public-service work.

The popular event includes live and silent auctions, desserts, cocktails and lots of fun. Items up for bid this year include tickets to sporting events and concerts, fine art, wine, vacation and dinner packages, and much more. Attendees include top judges, lawyers, public officials and future Long Island leaders.

Please contact Allison Flor at 631-761-7064 for further information or to RSVP.

Doing legal work that runs the gamut from representing abused women and children in family court to helping the homeless in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina to numerous local placements with not-for-profit advocacy groups, Touro Summer Public Interest Law Fellows receive hands-on training to complement their course work.

Touro is a law school on the rise, with a new, cutting-edge academic plan and 180,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art law facility adjacent to and working with state and federal courthouses in Central Islip, N.Y. Touro’s $35M new campus provides a learning model like no other for law students, combining practical courtroom experience with a rigorous curriculum taught by expert faculty.
