Just Ducky! Minor League Mascot
Receives Super-Sized Diploma
“Juris Duck-torate”
for Quackerjack and Owner Frank Boulton

Central Islip, N.Y. – It’s a merging of graduation season and
baseball season. The
merging of a law school that was just built next to federal and
state courthouses
and the popular Long Island Ducks’ Citibank Park in Central
Islip.
So in a welcome
to the community – and a first-of-its-kind event – the Ducks
greeted 70 members of the Touro Law Center faculty and staff at
its ballpark on Thursday night and Dean Lawrence Raful
presented Ducks owner Frank Boulton and mascot Quackerjack with
a six-foot-wide Juris Duck-torate (playing on the Latin juris
doctorate) degree before approximately 6000 fans. This is
the first time in history that a professional sports mascot has
received such a distinction.
“We’re glad to
finally be in our beautiful new building in Central Islip, and
this was a lighthearted way for our faculty and staff to take a
break and enjoy the game next door,” said Dean Raful, who also
threw out the game’s opening pitch. “We’re very appreciative of
Mr. Boulton and the Ducks’ hospitality, and were happy to
provide some pre-game laughs for the fans.”
Changes at Touro Law Center
