A Message
From Bruce K. Gould
I have agreed to chair this phase of the Touro Capital Campaign because
we are in a critically important period in the history of our
law school. In January 2007, we moved into a wonderful,
state-of-the-art campus in
Central Islip. Our proximity to
the state and federal courts and new, innovative curriculum allow us to be the first law school
in the country to merge the courtroom
and the classroom -- giving Touro graduates a decided advantage as
they enter the legal profession.
We have sought and received
federal and state financing for this important project, but we
know the significance of private funding to reaching our goal.
This Campaign is an outstanding opportunity for you to
contribute to an enterprise that will have far reaching effects
long after the foundation is settled.
Touro Law Center has become the physical site of a fundamental transformation in the
teaching of the law. The lawyers who graduate from the new "law
campus" will carry with them not only a superb legal education,
supplemented with practical experience; but also
a strong sense of community and public service. Judges, lawyers,
and other professionals within the complex who use the Law
Center’s research facilities and continuing education programs
will elevate the quality of their work. This is an
investment in the future of the justice system in this country
and its role in our society. I hope you will agree with me that
it is an investment that needs to be made.
