Deleting Moving, and Copying Files
Open My Computer on the Windows 2000 desktop screen. Highlight the file using the a single mouse click and press the Delete key.
Copy a file
If you want to copy a file to another location, right click (click your right mouse button) on the file that you want to move. A menu will appear. To make a copy of the file, which leaves it in it's original location as well as the new location, click copy. Now to paste it into the new location, open the folder in My Computer that you wish to paste to. Right-click directly onto where you want the file, and choose 'Paste'.
Move a file
Use the 'cut and paste' procedure described above except choose 'cut' instead of 'copy'. This will 'cut' the file out of the current folder and make it available to 'paste' anywhere you want.
Working with Multiple Files
You may delete, move or copy more then one file at once. To highlight more then one file, hold down the Ctrl key and click on each file to highlight. To highlight many files together, click on the first file of the list, then hold down the Shift key and click on the last file of the list. All files in between the two will be highlighted. Then use the procedures above in the same way.
