The Gould Law Library at Touro Law
Center has a selection of study rooms available for
use by Touro Law Center students. The rooms vary in
size and capacity. Three of the rooms contain
televisions equipped with DVD and VHS players for
use with media placed on reserve at the Circulation
Desk by professors. Three rooms also are equipped
with erasable white boards and erasable markers for
use by study groups.
Reservations for study rooms are highly
recommended and may be arranged at the Circulation
Desk on the library’s main floor. While students may
use study rooms without a reservation, they may be
asked to relinquish the room to students who make a
reservation – even if the reservation was made after
the non-reserved students occupied the study room.
A group may reserve one room for a
maximum of two hours each day. Reservations must be
made in the name of the group and may be arranged up
to one day in advance. Members may not sign up for
individual times (except for two small rooms, L309
and L310, intended for individual students).
Reservations will be held for 15 minutes. At least
two group members must be present within that time
to hold a reservation. A group may continue past a
reserved time, provided no other group has made a
reservation for the next time slot. The room must be
relinquished, however, if another group later makes
a reservation.
Most of the library is designated as a
“quiet study” area, but conversation at a reasonable
level is allowed for members of groups using the
study rooms. Other basic library rules still apply
in the study rooms. Food should be eaten outside the
library, although drinks in spill-proof containers
are allowed. Cell phones should be turned off or
placed on vibrate. Please use cell phones outside
the library.
Please protect your belongings while
using the library’s study rooms. Personal items,
including books and laptops, left unattended in
study rooms may be collected by guards and will be
kept at the Security Desk in the atrium of the Touro
Law Center. The library cannot accept responsibility
for loss or damage to personal items left unattended
in study rooms.
If you have any
questions about the library’s study rooms or
reservations, please speak with a staff member at
the Circulation Desk. Our reservation policy and
library rules are designed to preserve a quiet and
inviting study space for all of our Touro law
students. The library staff is here to assist you
with room reservations.
