Location
Faculty Conference Room

Description
Please join us on Wednesday, March 1, beginning at 12:30 pm in the FCR for a discussion of Race in the Criminal Justice System: Mass Incarceration, OverCriminalization, The War on Drugs, Mandatory Sentencing, and the Privatization of Prisons.

Our forum for students and faculty will include two panel members:
Orville Reynolds '07, an Assistant District Attorney in the newly formed Homicide Bureau of the Bronx District Attorney's Office. Mr. Reynolds, a former President of our SBA, went to work with the Bronx DA immediately upon graduating from Touro 9 years ago.

Kevin Satterfield, a former prosecutor with the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office, and an Attorney with the New York City Department of Correction.

We will begin with an edited showing of the 2016 Oscar nominated film,"13th--From Slave to Criminal," which presents an overview of Race and Criminal Justice in America. We will then have our panelists, faculty, and students express their reactions and concerns to the issues raised in this widely acclaimed, and extremely significant, documentary film. We will continue our meeting until 3:20. This program is sponsored by Touro's Office of Diversity and Inclusion, BLSA, LALSA, The Criminal Law Society, and the Public Interest Organization of Touro.

Feel free to join us for whatever part of our Hot Topics Program your schedule permits.
