Touro Law Center's TLC Bar Preparation Program is designed to insure graduating students success on the bar examination, by providing them with intensive preparation in key skills and subjects during the fall semester of their final year. Touro students receive training focused on the Multistate Bar Examination (MBE), a six-hour, two-hundred question multiple-choice examination covering contracts, torts, constitutional law, criminal law, evidence, and real property, that is now a part of the bar exam in most states. This training is combined with preparation for the Multistate Performance Test (MPT), a series of skills questions covering legal analysis, fact analysis, problem solving, resolution of ethical dilemmas, organization and management of a lawyering task, and communication. The MPT is now a part of the bar exam in many states, including New York, New Jersey, and California.

The fall component of the TLC program is provided by Touro in cooperation with PMBR, one of the nation's major bar preparation organizations. While there is a charge for this program, it is heavily subsidized by the Law Center, so that the actual cost to students is less than half of what they would pay if they took the courses privately. Then, throughout the spring semester, Touro provides graduating students with a series of free, intensive essay writing workshops, using actual questions from past bar exams. The workshops hone students' issue-spotting and analysis skills and introduce them to the crucial differences between law school and bar exam essays.
