| The Office of Students Services provides directly, or assists students in obtaining, several kinds of financial assistance:
Book Purchase Vouchers: Students who have been approved for financial aid in an amount that exceeds their tuition liability, but who have not yet received their checks, can get a voucher to cover the purchase of their required texts from the bookstore. When the student's financial aid check is received, the amount of the book purchases is deducted from the refund.
Emergency Loans: Short-term, unsecured, no-interest loans to cover personal emergencies are available.
Public Interest Law Fellowships: The Law Center awards $3,500 grants to fund ten weeks of summer work in poverty law, civil rights law, public rights law, or for charitable organizations. Awards are competitive.
Loan Repayment Assistance Program: The Law Center awards annual grants to graduates who are working in public interest legal positions, to assist them in paying off their student loans. The grants are intended to encourage students to experience the satisfactions of public interest legal work, where salaries are typically lower than in private firms.
