
Touro Law Center is pleased to coordinate a Supreme Court Admission Trip once
every three years– sponsoring a group admissions ceremony for Touro Law Center
Alumni to the Bar of the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the
Armed Forces, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the U.S.
Court of Federal Claims. You may choose to be admitted to one or all of the
courts listed above.
Our next Supreme Court Admissions Trip is scheduled for Monday, June 7, 2010.
Information will be mailed to all alumni at least six months prior to the
scheduled trip date. Please click here to
register on our alumni online directory to ensure your correct mailing address.
The program is limited to the first fifty Touro alumni who meet the criteria
listed and complete the court applications forms.
Admissions Criteria, Applications and Fees - A brochure that includes a
registration form will be mailed to all alumni at least six months prior to the
date of a scheduled trip. If you would like to request a form or further

Qualifications for Admission:

To qualify for admission to the Supreme Court of the United States, an
applicant must have been admitted to practice in the highest court of a State,
Commonwealth, Territory or Possession, or the District of Columbia for a period
of at least three years immediately before the date of application.
- There
is no time restriction for applications to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the
Armed Forces, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the U.S. Court
of Federal Claims. Attorneys must be admitted to practice in a state court.
Certificates of Good Standing: Certificates of Good Standing from
the highest court of a state are required by the United States Supreme Court,
the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces and the United States
Court of Federal Claims. For the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal
Circuit, you may have either a Certificate of Good Standing or the motion of a
sponsor. To obtain Certificates (you will need on original for each court
indicated above), contact the clerk of the highest court in the state in which
you were admitted. Attorneys admitted in New York should contact the clerk of
the department in which they were admitted. Allow three weeks for the delivery
of Certificates. Certificates must be dated within one year of the date of
admission.

evening reception, continental breakfast and lunch reception - and bus
transportation from the hotel to the courts)

Court Applications: The Law Center must receive completed court
applications and Certificates of Good Standing at least seven weeks prior to
admission date.
U.S. Supreme Court Rules: It is a rule of the U.S. Supreme Court
that only one guest per applicant will be allowed into the courtroom to observe
the ceremony. This policy is strictly enforced. Absolutely no cameras allowed
during the ceremony. Children under six years of age will not be permitted into
the courtroom.
