Graduates must pick up Caps and Gowns at the Touro Law Center Bookstore from May 12 – May 23, 2008 during regular business hours.

Please plan to arrive at Lincoln Center Plaza no later than 10:30 a.m. You must have your cap and gown with you.
Caps and gowns will be distributed beginning the week of May 12th in the bookstore. Hairpins are helpful to hold caps in place. Please have family members take charge of personal items, handbags, etc. Attire appropriate for the occasion is requested. A Touro Law Center Information Table in the lobby of Avery Fisher Hall will be staffed with graduation volunteers.

The class photograph will be taken at 10:45 a.m. sharp in the Avery Fisher Hall auditorium. Enter through the Plaza doors and take the stairs to the Left (West stairs) up one flight to the Grand Promenade. Graduation coordinators will direct you to the auditorium. (Please arrive by 10:30 a.m.)

Graduates must assemble on Tier One of Avery Fisher Hall after the class picture (no later than 11:30 a.m.).
Enter the Avery Fisher Hall lobby (Plaza level) and use the stairs or escalator. Tier One is the second level above the lobby. On Tier One, report to faculty marshals who will organize the student portion of the academic procession. Your attention and cooperation is essential to the proper order of the student procession.

The Commencement Exercises will begin at 12:00 noon sharp. It is your responsibility to be in place in the line of march no later than 11:30 a.m. ready to enter the hall precisely at 12:00 noon.

If a family member will be participating as a guest hooder please come to or call the Registrar’s Office no later than Friday, April 4, to confirm the name and that a cap and gown will be ordered.
Specific instructions for your guest hooder will be provided after you contact the Registrar’s Office to confirm their participation.

Due to increased security measures, Graduates and guests are requested not to bring backpacks, bags, etc. into Avery Fisher Hall. Such items may be subject to search by Lincoln Center security personnel.

Doors to the Avery Fisher Hall Auditorium will open for Guests at 11:30 a.m.
Graduates who have guests who are disabled should contact the Registrar’s Office regarding special instructions. Early access (11:15 a.m.) to the auditorium is permitted by special pass only.

Professional photographs will be taken of each graduate during the ceremony. You will be sent proofs of your individual and class pictures for purchase. We request that family or friends taking pictures do not approach the stage area.

Graduates and their guests are expected to respect the solemnity and dignity of the occasion. Behavior that detracts from the ceremony will not be tolerated. Violators of this request may be asked to leave the auditorium.

Cap and Gown Return
– Bookstore personnel and graduation volunteers will be available outside the Avery Fisher Hall auditorium for graduates to return gowns (and gold stoles for LL.M. students). The juris doctor hood and cap are yours to keep. The gowns are rentals only and graduates will be charged for gowns that are not returned. Please remember that degrees cannot be conferred until all obligations to the Law Center are satisfied including the return of graduation gowns. Your cooperation in promptly returning these items will be appreciated.
