Touro Law Announces Two-Year Accelerated J.D. Program
March 5, 2014Touro Law Center is pleased to announce the creation of a new two-year accelerated J.D. program. This program, scheduled to begin on May 27, 2014, is an extraordinary opportunity for a select group of qualified applicants to complete all requirements for the Juris Doctor degree during a concentrated and rigorous 24-month period and to sit for a Bar Examination only 26 months after they begin their law school studies. Applications are currently being accepted.
“Our accelerated program for highly qualified students will offer the same opportunities for hands-on learning and integration into our school life as our full time program,” said Dean Salkin. “The highly motivated and exceptional students accepted to this program will benefit from being a part of the Touro Law community and participate in a rigorous educational program that will enable them to join the work force a year ahead of the traditional law student.”
Tuition costs for this program are based upon the total number of credits (88), which is the same as for a 3-year program. It is anticipated that the high caliber students accepted to this program may receive substantial scholarship awards to help defray the cost of tuition. Accelerated program students will enter the workforce a year earlier than those enrolled in the traditional 3-year law school program, saving one-year of school-related living expenses.
All accepted students must have earned a Bachelor’s degree prior to the beginning of their legal studies. Students will begin their classes during the Summer 2014 session and carry full course loads for every semester thereafter until May 2016, including summer and winter sessions. Students in this accelerated program are eligible to apply for extra or co-curricular student activities, such as Moot Court or Law Review, and they will also be fully integrated into Touro Law’s experiential curriculum, including clinics, externships, court programs and courses in particular concentrations.
