November 3, 2009

Central Islip, NY – Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center is honoring Dean Emeritus Howard Glickstein as he turns 80 years old with a fundraising campaign and a day of celebration at the law school on Wednesday, November 11, 2009. Funds are being raised for the newly named Howard A. Glickstein Loan Forgiveness Fund. The fundraising goal is $80,000 in honor of Dean Glickstein’s 80th birthday. In addition, a new annual lecture series has been created called the Howard A. Glickstein Civil Rights and Public Policy Lecture. The inaugural lecturer will be lifetime civil rights activist William L. Taylor. In addition, Harold Koh, Legal Advisor to the United States Department of State and professor and former dean of Yale Law School, will deliver an address during the day to mark the occasion.

“Howard Glickstein has dedicated his life to social justice and the law, and this seems like a fitting way to mark a special occasion in his life,” said Dean Lawrence Raful. “We are so pleased to be able to honor him in this way – while also making a difference for our alumni working in public interest through raising funds for loan forgiveness. I hope to see many of our alumni and friends throughout the day.”
