February 14, 2011

Central Islip, NY – After an extensive interview process, Gillian Ballentine-Alman has been hired as staff attorney in the Senior Citizens Law Program at Touro Law Center working with Denise Marzano-Doty and Judith Lespinasse, representing elders in Suffolk County.

Through the Senior Citizens Law Program at Touro Law Center, Suffolk County residents 60 and over receive comprehensive legal services by licensed attorneys, without charge. Namely, assistance with government benefit programs, consumer debt issues, landlord-tenant matters, durable powers of attorney, health care proxies, living wills, home repair fraud, financial exploitation, institutional abuse, warranties and contracts, and related matters. Funding for this outstanding program is provided by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the New York State Office for the Aging through the Suffolk County Office for the Aging.

Gillian is a graduate of Rutgers University, where she majored in History and Political Science and of New York Law School, class of 2007. After graduation from law school, Gillian accepted a position at the Legal Aid Society of Rockland County where she served as a staff attorney in the Juvenile Rights unit, representing children in family court proceedings. We are very fortunate to have lured her away from Rockland County and redirected her talents to the other end of the age spectrum.
