198 Receive Law Degrees at 29th Annual Commencement

Central Islip, NY – Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center’s commencement ceremony, which took place on Sunday, May 29th at the Beacon Theater in New York City, celebrated 194 J.D. candidates, 1 J.D./M.B.A. candidate and 3 LL.M. candidates.

The Honorable Shira Scheindlin, U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York, was the commencement speaker. Valedictorians and salutatorians were honored for their outstanding achievements. This year’s full-time valedictorian was Anthony Russo and part-time evening division valedictorian was Daniel J. Evers. Full-time division salutatorian was Allison Lynn Rowley and, in the part-time division the honor went to Vincent F. Civitano.

Salaam Bhatti was nominated as Class Orator and addressed his fellow graduates, faculty, deans, family, friends and guests on Sunday. He thanked friends and family for support during the law school years. He reflected on the past years at Touro Law, saying, “Touro is a place where different people gather and learn from one another. Touro went beyond and accepted all different kind of people with open arms.” And, he reminded fellow graduates that their work will have a direct effect on people and the justice system. He finished by congratulating his fellow graduates and wishing everyone success.
