Dean Raful to Step Down as Dean, Join Faculty Full Time in June 2012

July 6, 2011

Central Islip, NY – Dean Lawrence Raful has announced that he will step down as Dean of Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center on June 30, 2012 and join the faculty as a full time professor. A search committee will be appointed and a national search conducted to secure his replacement.

Dean Raful said, “We will begin a national search very shortly, and I look forward to working with a search committee which includes faculty, students, staff, alumni and friends of the Law Center. I believe we have adequate time to conduct a national search and find the next leader of Touro Law. This leader will continue to build on the law school’s strong foundation of providing an excellent education while enhancing and promoting faculty research and scholarship.”

Raful was appointed Dean of Touro Law Center in 2004. Prior, he was the Dean of Creighton Law School since 1988. Raful, who studies and teaches legal ethics and professional responsibility, plans to expand the class offerings currently available at Touro Law in this area and provide continuing legal education classes for lawyers about new ethics rules recently adapted in New York State.

“Serving as Dean of this law school is indeed an honor and a privilege,” said Raful. “I am proud of the faculty, students and alumni – all of whom I will continue to work with in the future.”
