Biography
Debra D. Newman enjoyed a career as a federal prosecutor. She successfully handled a variety of complex trials and federal investigations, including fraud, narcotics and organized crime cases. Until her recent retirement, she was the attorney in charge of domestic violence issues, in the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York. Ms. Newman also has considerable experience in federal civil litigation, as a result of her work as a trial attorney for the United States Department of Justice, Washington, D.C. In that capacity, she handled numerous civil trials involving torts and medical malpractice, including the successful defense of the United States in national immunization products liability cases. Ms. Newman is a graduate of Princeton and received her law degree from Georgetown University Law Center.
