New FlexTime JD Program Launched

A unique new program allowing students to complete some work online, thereby enhancing the value of their time on campus, and allowing greater scheduling flexibility for students with significant work or family obligations.

This unique program is designed to accommodate the schedules of students who might typically enter a part-time law program, but need even more flexibility for work or family obligations. The program provides this increased flexibility through uniquely tailored combinations of online and in-person instructional components. The program will provide students with maximum flexibility while maintaining a rigorous course of study that will prepare them for the realities of law practice, and will do so using the latest in evidence-based teaching and learning tools. FlexTime students will be able to complete the requirements for their JD in just under four years, allowing successful members of the inaugural fall 2018 class to sit for the July 2022 bar exam.

During the first two years of the program, students attend for 3 semesters – fall, spring and summer – completing 24 credits per year, or 48 credits in 24 months. The remaining 40 credits are completed during the third and fourth years and do not require any on-campus summer attendance. Fifteen credits will consist entirely of online electives, including all credits earned during the third and final summer of the program. Generally, the program requires on-campus classes every other Sunday during the first two years. Subsequently, FlexTime students will be able to take many courses entirely online, thus reducing the number of on-campus classes and providing even greater flexibility.

All content, both in person and online, is delivered in a manner that matches the standards for Touro’s full-time day program. In fact, the extended in-person sessions and online delivery platform provide numerous teaching and learning opportunities unique to the FlexTime JD
