Advanced Persuasion Writing - LAWN751

2 Credits

This course delves into persuasion in a more sophisticated way than Legal Process II allows. Drawing on psychology, literature, and marketing theories, this course offers strategies that are relatively simple to master but too often overlooked by even experienced attorneys. Students will learn different techniques and strategies to adjust the argument to maximize persuasion depending on audience and purpose. They will also learn to use these skills to undercut the persuasion of an opposing argument. These strategies apply to both written and oral advocacy and can be used at every level of a dispute, from negotiation through to appeal. (Prerequisites: Legal Process I & II.)(Satisfies the Advanced Writing Requirement without an additional paper.)
