Our students have a chance to make a difference in the everyday lives of our fellow Long Islanders by assisting them in legal issues that arise out of the very basics of life—housing, income security, health care, family law, and consumer law. Students represent actual clients with legal problems and work with experienced attorney professors. Clinic students advise clients and appear on their behalf in court or at administrative hearings under the supervision of clinical faculty. In addition to providing valuable firsthand experience, clinics help students hone essential professional skills such as interviewing, drafting legal documents, and investigating and developing evidence.
