Biography
Mark Cohen is a Judge of the New York Court of Claims, sitting by designation as a Justice of the New York State Supreme Court, Suffolk County. From 2002 until his appointment to the bench in 2006, he served as Chief Counsel and Deputy Director of the New York State Office of Homeland Security. Previously, he was the Chief Assistant District Attorney of Suffolk County. During a long career in the District Attorney's Office, he served in most of the major bureaus, including eight years as Chief of the Appeals Bureau. He lectures widely on criminal law for bar groups and law enforcement agencies. He received his B.A. from Columbia University and his J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law.
