Description
Kristallnacht program honors Aristides de Sousa Mendes, the “Portuguese Schindler,” WWII diplomat who disobeyed orders of his government and granted visas out of Occupied France to 30,000 refugees, including 12,000 Jews, “the largest rescue action by a single individual during the Holocaust.”  Reception 6:00 p.m., MFMR; film, Disobedience: the Sousa Mendes Story, 6:30 p.m., AUD; panel discussion 8:00 p.m., AUD, led by Professor Dan Subotnik, whose parents were rescued by Sousa Mendes.
