ABOUT THE PROGRAM

This Presentation hosted by NYS Assemblyman Keith Brown and Touro Alum ’94 examined the issues with Long Island’s Municipal Solid Waste Problem and Potential Solutions, including new products and technologies recycling techniques, the proposed Extender Producer Responsibility Bill being considered in Albany and methods designed to increase recycling and reduce the solid waste stream and the cost of disposal.

The closure of the Brookhaven Landfill in 2026 will have far-reaching consequences on the solid waste industry on Long Island.

The Panel was an informative discussion and offered some solutions to our local governments who struggle with ways to cut the costs of transportation and solid waste disposal – Long Island’s #1 export.
