Library Access Policy

Students, Faculty, and Administration

The students, faculty, administration, and staff of the Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center are the primary users of the Law Center Library. A currently validated Law Center ID card is the library card for primary users and must be presented for transactions upon request.

Touro Law Center Alumni

Touro Law Center alumni receive library privileges through membership in the Alumni Association, which is handled through the Office of Development at 631.761.7066. A current Alumni Association membership card is the library card for Law Center Alumni. This card must be presented for access and transactions.

Members of the Bench and Bar

Members of the bench and bar may obtain library access by joining the Friends of the Library, handled through the Office of Development at 631.761.7066. Several levels of membership are available. A current Friends membership card serves as a library card and must be presented for access and transactions.

Law Students from outside Touro Law Center

Law students from other ABA-accredited law schools may request passes to use the library by presenting letters of introduction and currently validated IDs from their own schools at the security desk in the law school atrium. The pass and a currently validated law school ID card must be presented for access and transactions.

Members of the Greater Touro Community

Members of the greater Touro community may use the library, except during final exam periods and the reading period preceding final exams.  A currently validated Touro College or Touro University ID card must be presented for access and transactions.

Members of the Public (for government documents usage)

The Gould Law Library is a partial depository for United States government documents. Members of the general public who wish to view specific government documents should contact the reference office to arrange a visit at 631.761.7160. The non-depository collection is not open to the general public.

*All visitors to the building must sign in at the Receptionist/Security area at the entrance to the Law Center. The building pass issued at that time is not a library pass
