| In January 2007, Touro Law Center transformed itself with a move to a new campus in Central Islip, N.Y., adjacent to and working with state and federal courthouses. Touro Law Center, the Alfonse M. D'Amato U.S. Courthouse and the John P. Cohalan, Jr. Courthouse form a triangle of three important and complementary legal institutions that now make the region one of the country’s most interesting for jurisprudence. With its key location, Touro is now a catalyst for bringing judges, lawyers and future lawyers together.
Central Islip's Empire Zone has attracted over a billion dollars of investment in recent years, not only including Touro and the courthouses but also a high-rise office center, and a soon-to-break-ground luxury hotel. These groups join internationally acclaimed Computer Associates in the region.
Typical housing prices in the area range from $200,000 - $600,000, including town homes, single family homes, and luxury senior accommodations, with a key location near all major highways, parkways, the Long Island Railroad and MacArthur Airport.
Recreational and entertainment opportunities include the minor league baseball Long Island Ducks, whose $20M stadium is just a short walk from Touro. The expansive Central Islip Library is a popular local anchor of activity. Gullhaven Golf Course is in CI’s Historic District. The adjacent 6,000-acre Connetquot River State Park Preserve lures nature lovers, fly fishermen and horseback riders. CI’s Courtside Trail, Greenbelt Trail and nearby Bay and Ocean beaches all help make Central Islip a great place to unwind.
