Special events are an important part of law school life. Each week, the law school calendar is replete with speakers, visitors, panels and symposia, all contributing to the spirit of inquiry and stimulating intellectual life of our community. Most events fall into one of two categories. Academic enrichment events bring distinguished speakers to the school to lecture, participate in classes or join in panel discussions. Fund-raising events bring together students, alumni and special friends and are an important source of revenue for the law school. For more information about fundraising events, follow the links below.

For over a decade, this program has been attracting prominent jurists to the Law Center, including United State Supreme Court Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Antonin Scalia, as well as Chief Judge Judith Kaye of the New York State Court of Appeals. The program features a public lecture, luncheons, informal meetings, classroom lectures, and a private reception for students, faculty, and invited guests.
  • Distinguished Public Interest Lawyer in Residence
Recognizing attorneys who have made significant contributions to society by representation of individuals or groups historically denied access to justice, this program has featured such noted speakers as Elaine Jones, NAACP legal Defense and Educational Fund director-counsel; Cesar Perales, Puerto Rican Legal Defense; and Janet Benshoof, Center for Reproductive Law & Policy.
  • Bruce K. Gould Book Award
This award, named for its benefactor, a leading law book publisher and Touro Law Center graduate, is presented annually to the author of an outstanding publication related to the law, the legal profession, or the legal system. Recipients have included Anita Hill, for Speaking Truth to Power; Robert Shapiro, for The Search for Justice: A Defense Attorney's Brief on the O.J. Simpson Case; United States Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, for On the Law of Nations; and, most recently, Sandra Day O'Connor, who spent the day at Touro and was honored for The Majesty of the Law: Reflections of a Supreme Court Justice.
