WWW.T OUROL AW.E DU 67 Erica Vladimer was raised alongside her twin sister in New Jersey by their two loving parents. In 2005 she graduated from John P. Stevens High School in Edison N.J. and attended the University of Connecticut where she received her bachelors in Sociology. As a student Erica volunteered in Nutmeg Big Brothers Big Sisters and even took on the role as site director overseeing and supporting forty-five matches. Upon graduation Erica joined Public Allies Connecticut an AmeriCorps non-profit leadership training program founded by First Lady Michelle Obama. As an Ally Erica worked for the Urban League of Greater Hartford as a youth program director. It was this role that confirmed Ericas desire to focus on child advocacy and education reform. After working for a year as a Public Ally she chose to attend law school at Touro Law Center where she was began turning her passion for social justice into a career. From day one Erica immersed herself in the Touro Law community. She sat on the Student Bar Association Board as a first-year representative and became the treasurer her second year. In addition to her treasurer position Erica was appointed as student representative for Touro Laws Dean Search Committee. Dean Salkins first year at Touro Law was also the year Erica was elected Student Bar Association President. Erica enjoyed a good relationship with the dean and administration while working to ensure the best student experience for all at Touro Law. It was through this close working relationship that Erica learned about the New York State Senate Fellowship. At the urging of Dean Salkin Erica applied and was accepted to the program. She moved to Albany in September 2013. She was placed with the Independent Democratic Conference IDC in their Program and Counsel Office where she focused on education and higher education policy. After completing her Fellowship Erica stayed with the IDC as a policy analyst and counsel working with legislators and advocates to ensure students across the state receive the education they deserve. She also represented the IDC in the Education and Higher Education budget negotiations. Although her time in Albany was extremely valuable Erica knew an opportunity to return to Touro Law was one she could not pass up. As the Director of Alumni and Donor Relations Erica looks forward to working as an advocate for alumni and an ambassador for the law school. I look forward to connecting with alumni and getting to know them. I believe an important part of my role is to act as a bridge for our alumni to connect with the school and each other. I am extremely excited about this opportunity. Touro Law and the Touro Law community have always been special to me and I am honored to be able to work in this role to strengthen ties among the community while advancing the institution.
