Biography
Admitted to the bar of Illinois. Before attending law school, Professor Derby worked as a journalist in Vietnam and in the Chicago area. Immediately upon graduation, he was a judicial law clerk at the Illinois Appellate Court, Chicago. He entered legal education at DePaul University College of Law and was a member of the faculty at the University of Akron, C. Blake McDowell Law Center. Part of the Law Center’s faculty for eighteen years, Professor Derby is founder and director of Touro’s summer program at Jimei University in Xiamen, China. He is a member of the International Association of Penal Law and is the author of articles on international criminal law and conflicts of law.
