India Sneed Named a Presidential Management Fellow

May 1, 2013

Touro Law Center is proud to announce that India Sneed, part-time evening student who will graduate in May 2013, has been named a Presidential Management Fellow. The flagship leadership development program was created more than three decades ago by Executive Order and attracts and selects the best candidates possible designed to develop a cadre of potential government leaders. The program, available to graduate level students, provides sustenance during the first years of employment and encourages development of leadership capabilities. A total of 12,220 applications were received for the Presidential Management Fellows Program, with only 663 finalists selected.

“We are very proud of India for earning this prestigious honor,” said Touro Law Dean Patricia Salkin. “Being named a Presidential Management Fellow is truly noteworthy. The process is demanding, the criteria is rigorous and the selection process is quite competitive. India demonstrates excellence on a daily basis. I am pleased that her hard work, intellect and determination were rewarded through her appointment as a Fellow in this honorable program. I am sure she will continue to make Touro Law proud for many years to come.”

The PMF program provides salary and benefits for a two-year appointment. Fellows receive classroom training, a 4 to 6 month developmental assignment, potential for promotions and career ladders as well as challenging work assignments. Fellows are expected to take on challenges with energy and excitement and portray their elite status through the quality of work and service to the country. Fellows need to demonstrate leadership, foster teamwork, set goals and delivery something of value to the American people.

India was driven to law school by her desire to serve people and make a positive difference in the world. Her career goal is to become an elected official and she is confident this fellowship will further those goals.

She said, “The Presidential Management Fellowship offers a great experience and opportunity to work within the federal government. I hope to be in congress or an appointee to a future President’s cabinet. This fellowship will allow me to experience an agency prospective that will help me as a legislator and living and working in Washington DC will provide me with an expanded network of professionals. I look forward to an excellent experience and a fulfilling career. This is an amazing opportunity that I have worked really hard for and I am excited for the challenging work ahead.”
