Harold Koh and William L. Taylor Speak at Touro Law to Commemorate Dean Emeritus Howard A. Glickstein’s 80th Birthday

December 8, 2009

Central Islip, NY – Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center honored Dean Emeritus Howard Glickstein as he turned 80 years old with a day of celebration at the law school and a new fundraising campaign. A new annual lecture series entitled the Howard A. Glickstein Civil Rights and Public Policy Lecture was created. The inaugural lecturer was lifetime civil rights activist William L. Taylor. In addition, Harold Koh, Legal Advisor to the United States Department of State and professor and former dean of Yale Law School, delivered an address during the day to mark the occasion. In addition, funds were raised for the newly named Howard A. Glickstein Loan Forgiveness Fund.

“Howard Glickstein has dedicated his life to social justice and the law, and this seems like a fitting way to mark a special occasion in his life,” said Dean Lawrence Raful. “We are so pleased to be able to honor him in this way – while also making a difference for our alumni working in public interest through raising funds for loan forgiveness.”
