Touro Law Center’s Office of Development, Alumni Relations and Communications is proud to announce that Randy Schaefer has been selected as the November Alum of the Month.  Ms. Schaefer is of counsel with the firm of Silverman Acampora LLP and was an active member of the Touro Community while attending law school and remains engaged through Touro Law Center’s Alumni Association, Alumni Council and Mentor Program as well as attending various alumni and student events throughout the years.  On behalf of the entire law school community, we extend our congratulations to Randy Schaefer.  
Randy J. Schaefer received her Juris Doctor from Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center in 1992 where she received the American Jurisprudence Award in Real Estate Transactions. Ms. Schaefer received her Bachelor of Science from the State University of New York at the Fashion Institute of Technology in 1987. She is admitted to practice in the State Courts of New York and in the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. She is a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association and participates in the Volunteer Lawyers Project of the Nassau/Suffolk Law Services Committee. In January 2008, Ms. Schaefer was appointed as the First Vice President to Touro Law Center’s Alumni Association Executive Board. She is also an active member of the Law Center’s Alumni Council, volunteer alumni assisting with admissions, career services and student organizations. 
After graduating from Touro Law Center, Ms. Schaefer served for 9 years as the staff attorney for a Standing Chapter 13 Bankruptcy Trustee for the Eastern District of New York as well as being associated with Macco Hackeling & Stern where she practiced primarily in the areas of creditors’ rights and bankruptcy. She also represented individual Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 debtors as well as Chapter 11 debtors and major financial institutions including Ford Motor Credit. Thereafter, in 2003, she joined the firm of Silverman Acampora LLP as an associate and in 2006 became counsel to the firm concentrating in the areas of creditors’ rights and bankruptcy. Since joining Silverman Acampora LLP in 2003, Ms. Schaefer has concentrated her practice in the area of representing many trustees, debtors, liquidating trusts, and defendants in all phases of preference and fraudulent conveyance litigation in over 500 proceedings in the Bankruptcy Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts.
