Justice Sotomayor to Accept Touro Law’s Gould Book Award

Award Presentation to be Held on September 9, 2013

March 21, 2013

Touro Law Center is pleased to announce that United States Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor will accept the Bruce K. Gould Book Award in a ceremony at the school on Monday, September 9, 2013 at 6:00 pm.

“We are truly honored that Justice Sotomayor, a role model for our students and for our community, will accept the prestigious Gould Book Award,” said Dean Patricia Salkin. “We are particularly grateful that she has agreed to meet with many of our students prior to the program to share her insight and passion for the law.”

The Gould Book award honors the best work of fiction or non-fiction on a law-related subject. Justice Sotomayor was selected for her compelling new autobiographical book My Beloved World. Justice Sotomayor is the first Hispanic and third female appointed to the United States Supreme Court. Her new book recounts her life from a Bronx housing project to the federal bench, offering inspiring testament to her own extraordinary determination and the power of believing in oneself.

Justice Sotomayor will meet with students early in the afternoon at a private reception and then accept the award at a ceremony. For additional information, please contact Jaclyn Curtin at (631) 761-7064 or email events@tourolaw.edu.
