Touro Law Graduate Employment Stats at 10 Year High

June 20, 2017

Touro Law Dean Harry Ballan is pleased to announce that the ABA reported employment statistics for the Class of 2016 have improved significantly over prior graduating classes. The Class of 2016 has experienced the highest employment numbers, including JD-required jobs, in more than a decade.

Dean Ballan stated, “We are encouraged by the dramatic improvements over prior years and by the outlook for the Class of 2017. Preliminary indicators show that 2017 numbers will exceed those for 2016. Many of our graduates have already secured judicial clerkships and full-time employment.”

The report submitted to the ABA shows that 84.2% of the Class of 2016 report being employed 10 months after graduation. This number reflects the highest employment rate for any graduating class in the last decade and an increase of 7 percentage points from the Class of 2015. 69.8% of those graduates are in full-time jobs where admission to the bar is required or a law degree is an advantage. This represents a 9% increase over the class of 2015.

The Office of Career & Professional Development continues to work with students and alumni to ensure they reach their goals in the legal profession. Alumni have unrestricted access to the office throughout their careers and the office posts both entry level and experienced attorney positions regularly.

Assistant Dean for Career & Professional Development Jim Montes stated, “We are continuing to make great strides in ensuring that our graduates fulfill their dreams and begin their legal careers while making a difference in the lives of others.”
