Trial Practice: Criminal - LAWN841

3 Credits

This seminar allows students to participate in each stage of a simulated trial: they select juries; deliver opening arguments; prepare expert testimony; conduct direct-examination and cross-examination of witnesses; and deliver closing arguments. The use of videotaping allows students to review and analyze their trial skills throughout the course. At the end of the semester, each student conducts an entire trial in front of a judge and jury. Trial Practice courses will be designated as either (1) Trial Practice; (2) Trial Practice: Criminal; or (3) Trial Practice: Civil (offered occasionally depending on student demand), depending on the focus of the specific course, as determined by the instructor in consultation with the Associate Dean. (No prerequisite. Satisfies Intermediate Skills Requirement.)
