6. There will be an award ceremony at Touro Law Center prior to Commencement on May 22, 2024. The award ceremony will take place at 7:00 pm. Those receiving an award will need to check in at 6:30 pm. Students will be notified if they are to receive an award by mid-April. The number of guest tickets for the award ceremony will be limited.

7. Tickets for Commencement, caps and gowns will be distributed in late April or early May. We hope that we will be able to accommodate all requests for additional tickets. We will let you know in April. Graduates will be notified via email when tickets for Commencement, caps and gowns are ready to be picked up. Caps and gowns for graduates do not need to be returned.

8. Please notify Jacqueline Zervoulei, Manager of Special Events & Annual Fund, at jzervoul@tourolaw.edu if you will have any guest(s) who require wheelchair seating.

9. Guest Hooders will walk in the academic procession. If any guest hooders are not able to walk and climb stairs easily, please notify the Office of Institutional Advancement, at events@tourolaw.edu and we will make arrangements to have them seated on stage.

10. There is a rental fee of $90.00 for Guest Hooders and must be paid at the time of ordering. Guest Hooder caps and gowns can be picked up from the Administration Office at the same time graduates pick up their caps and gowns or from the Robing Room on May 23, 2024. Guest Hooder caps and gowns must be returned to the Robing Room after the commencement ceremony.

11. We will have an information table at the Tilles Center to assist with answering questions from students and guests.

12. Academic Attire: All graduates wear the Touro Law Center cap and gown. The hood will be carried over the left arm until the appropriate time in the ceremony when graduates are hooded. Students graduating with honors wear gold honor cords. Stoles are only permitted to be worn by official honor society members (TAPS, Moot Court and Law Review) No other cords or stoles are permitted during official school-sponsored events. Honor Society stole orders must be placed through the Office of Institutional Advancement.

13. You must have your cap, gown and hood with you. Hairpins are helpful to hold caps in place. Please have family members take charge of personal items, handbags, etc. Attire appropriate for the occasion is requested. Graduation gowns can be exceptionally warm on a hot day – graduates may be more comfortable without suit jackets.

14. Professional photographs will be taken of each graduate during the ceremony. You will be sent proofs of your individual and class pictures for purchase. (Class photograph will be a composite of individual graduate, faculty, and administration photographs). We request that family or friends taking pictures do not approach the stage area.

15. The Commencement Ceremony usually lasts approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. This allows each student to go on stage and be hooded. PLEASE do not leave the hall while the ceremony is in progress. All students deserve the respect of their fellow classmates to remain for the entirety of the ceremony.

16. While we encourage the enthusiastic support of family and friends, graduates and their guests are expected to respect the seriousness and dignity of the occasion. Behavior that detracts from the ceremony will not be tolerated. We respectfully request that air horns not be brought into the theatre. The noise interrupts and prolongs the ceremony and denies other graduates and their families the joy of hearing names announced. Violators of this request will be asked to leave the theatre.

17. An email will be sent to graduating students from the Office of Institutional Advancement asking each graduate to confirm whether the information they provided to be included in the Commencement Ceremony program is correct. In the email there will be a deadline by which graduating students need to respond. If a student does not respond by the deadline provided, the information will remain in the program, as is.

18. We will provide all graduates with more detailed information about the Commencement Ceremony in early May. Please remember to check your emails for this information.

19. Bar Certification. Degrees will be conferred on June 4, 2024. Bar Certification will be completed for all students who have satisfied all the degree requirements. This includes the completion of a minimum of 88 credits, satisfying all Touro Law course requirements, and bursar clearance.
