Touro Law Graduates and Adjuncts Receive Recognition for Pro Bono Work
The Suffolk County Bar Association recognizes a member each month as their Pro Bono Lawyer of the Month. We are so proud the February, January, December, November recipients are members of the Touro Law community! Congratulations to Vahagn Krmoyan '22, Adjunct Professor Denise Snow ‘06, Adjunct Professor Richard Arturo, and Nikki Prasad ‘20, respectively.
In February, alum Vahagn Krmoyan was recognized. Vahagn Krmoyan, Esq. was born in Yerevan, Armenia, and moved to the United States in 1999 with a strong desire to become a productive and contributing member of society. From a young age, he was drawn to public service and sought ways to make a positive impact. This passion led to a distinguished 15-year career with the New York Police Department (NYPD), where he served as both a police officer and a Sergeant. Throughout his career with the NYPD, he worked in a variety of specialized units, including highway patrol, domestic violence unit, internal affairs, and the legal bureau, demonstrating a commitment to public safety, justice, and accountability.
After years of service in law enforcement, he transitioned to the field of law, where he now focuses on bankruptcy law, real estate, and immigration. With a strong foundation in public service, he continues to dedicate his career to helping others, using his legal expertise to provide support and guidance in these important areas of law. When asked why he does Pro Bono work, he states, “Outside of my legal practice, I remain passionate about giving back to the community, always striving to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.” Vahagn Krmoyan has provided many hours of pro bono services and has been an essential part of the Legal Services of Long Island’s Bankruptcy Clinic as a volunteer attorney, helping to give a fresh start to low-income individuals on Long Island.

She was instrumental in forming the first officially designated Medical Legal Partnership (MLP) on Long Island with the Stony Brook University Hospital Palliative Care team. The MLP successfully assisted many seriously ill patients with their medical-legal needs. Ms. Snow was Co-Chair of the Suffolk County Bar Association Health and Hospital Law Committee. She has written peer-reviewed articles on health policy, insurance-related issues for breast cancer patients, and Medical Legal Partnerships and has presented extensively on the non-medical needs of seriously ill patients. She has authored textbook chapters on prenatal care, health care policy and palliative care legal issues. She has received leadership awards from Sigma Theta Tau and was nominated for “Nurse of the Year” in 2022.
Ms. Snow has always been committed to giving back to communities in need through legal advice and assistance. She most recently volunteered for Legal Services of Long Island’s Advance Directive Clinic as well as assisted clients through the Suffolk County Pro Bono Project. Ms. Snow’s consistent commitment to helping others is shown through her legal volunteer work and her strong belief that “Everyone in our community should have access to advocacy for their civil legal needs.”
