Selected Topics in Employment Discrimination - LAWN558

2 Credits

This course covers the basic principles of employment discrimination law, focusing on selected topics. Students examine the applicable federal, state and New York City statutes prohibiting workplace discrimination based on race, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, pregnancy, and retaliation. The course is designed to give you an understanding of how those doctrines are applied by lawyers who represent employees and lawyers who represent employers. Where possible, the course will focus on new and emerging issues in employment discrimination law, including, for example, discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, and family status discrimination.
