Conflict of Laws Course Description - LAWN656

3 Credits

This course presents an overview of the major problems that arise in civil cases with multi-jurisdictional aspects (e.g., where parties or events are linked to different states): jurisdiction of courts, re-cognition and enforcement of foreign judgments, and choice of law. Such problems arise within the U.S., due to the existence of fifty co-equal states; however, problems also arise in very similar forms when the conflicting laws are those of different nations. (Prerequisites: Civil Dispute Resolution and Procedure I & II.)
